Objectives

  • Offer five patient teaching points for vascular access-related bleeding emergencies.
  • Correlate causes of extracorporeal circuit-related bleeding with prevention strategies.
  • Identify three emergencies in which a patient should not return blood.
  • List symptoms that should prompt patients to immediately stop treatment and call 911?

Audience

Nurses and dialysis technicians (This course can also serve as a home dialysis orientation for nephrologists and administrators.)
