An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Learn how to prepare—not scare—patients so they recognize and report issues before they turn into complications and can respond appropriately if complications do occur.
Objectives
- Describe a comprehensive approach to help avoid home hemodialysis complications.
- Provide a rationale for teaching patients each of three ways to avoid home HD treatment complications.
- State five early warnings of potential home HD medical complications.
- Define the respective roles of the training nurse and the patient in creating a culture of safety for home HD.
Accreditation for this course expires October 31, 2026.
Learners must complete the entire activity, receive a score of at least 80% on the post-test, and complete the course evaluation to be awarded contact hours. Learners can print or save their completion certificates and should keep them for a minimimum of 4 years. It is the responsibility of the learner to determine if these CE contact hours will be accepted by a particular licensing organization.
