This module offers suggestions for getting the right amounts of nutrients, planning healthy meals, and eating out. Vitamins, supplements, as well as phosphate binders and their connection to renal bone disease are also discussed. The purpose of Kidney School Continuing Education courses is to enable the learner to better understand the medical and psychosocial impacts of end stage kidney disease, as well as patients’ experience of managing this chronic condition.

Objectives

After taking this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the nutrients and safe levels to be considered when meal planning.
  • List 4 symptoms of fluid overload.
  • Describe patient self-management strategies involved in meal planning and eating out at a restaurant
