PD and home HD are very different than in-center HD. Instead of doing tasks for patients, you’ll teach them how to do their own care—using an empowerment approach. In this course, you’ll learn how to make the shift and equip your patients to do PD and home HD safely.
Objectives
- Describe how to examine and overcome your biases
- Discuss tactics to enhance learning readiness prior to home training
- Provide three examples of ways to overcome challenges to home dialysis success
- List four ways to treat patients like the adult learners they are
- Explain the importance of providing autonomy support
Audience
Nurses and Dialysis Technicians. (This course can also serve as a home dialysis orientation for nephrologists and administrators.)
